When the Chest Visuals Match Contents setting is enabled, treasure chests will visually indicate the type of item they contain. Items are categorized as follows:

Proofs Proofs (including Promise Charm)
Abilities Abilities (growth, action, and support)
Magic Magic
Drive Forms Drive Forms (including Anti-form if enabled)
Summons Summons
Torn Pages Torn Pages
Secret Ansem Reports Secret Ansem Reports
Weapons Weapons (keyblades/staffs/shields)
Armor/Accessories Armor, accessories
Unlocks Visit Unlocks and Lucky Emblems (also includes Olympus Stone, Hades Cup Trophy, and Unknown Disk)
Stats Stat/Slot Increases (also includes Munny Pouches)
Junk Everything else
